Abstract : Secure Shredder is a Windows-based secure data deletion tool designed to permanently eliminate sensitive files and free space from storage devices using military-grade cryptographic erasure and multi-pass overwriting techniques. This research paper presents a comprehensive analysis of the system architecture, implementation, security mechanisms, and user interfaces (both Command-Line Interface and Graphical User Interface). The tool automatically detects storage device types (SSD/HDD) and applies device-optimized deletion strategies aligned with widely cited sanitization standards such as DoD 5220.22-M and NIST SP 800-88. The paper details the internal algorithms of the Windows Secure Deletion engine, performance optimizations including adaptive pass selection and multithreading, and practical applications of Secure Shredder in personal, enterprise, and forensic-aware environments. Keywords - Secure Deletion, Cryptographic Erasure, Data Sanitization, SSD/HDD Optimization, Python Security Applications, TRIM, ATA Secure Erase
