Paper Title
Design of Low Power and High Speed FIR filter using Koggestone CSLA
Abstract
Carry select adder (CSLA) is considered as the one of the fastest adder and used in many data processing
applications to perform the fast arithmetic functions. The speed of operation of the CSLA is limited by the time required to
propagate a carry through the adder. Delay of RCA is large therefore we have replaced it with parallel prefix adders which
gives fast results. In this paper, structures of 64-Bit Regular CSA, Modified Linear BK CSA, and Koggestone CSA are
designed. Power and delay of all these adder architectures are calculated and also presents design of Low Power and High
Speed Parallel Prefix Adder (Kogge-Stone adder) for FIR filter. And it also gives the Comparison of three adders (CSA, BK,
and Kogge stone Adder) in Case of Power and Delay. Impulse Response filter involves multiplications, additions and
shifting operations. As the multiplier is the slowest element in the system, it will affect the performance of the FIR filter. In
this paper, Finite Impulse Response filter based on shift add multiplier is designed and compared with these three different
adders has been written Coded in Verilog and then synthesized and simulated using Xilinx ISE 14.7.
