Paper Title - Traffic Sign Detection Using Mathematical Morphology


Abstract
Traffic sign plays a vital role in today’s life by providing crucial information to the drivers about the road traffic and hence helps in safe and effective driving. Automatic Traffic Sign Recognition forms the major technology in Intelligent Transport Systems. Recognition of traffic signs first involves detecting the traffic sign from the input image or video stream then classifying the detected sign and recognition of it. In our proposed method, the traffic sign in given input image is detected by converting the RGB image into HSV color space and then applying mathematical morphology. The shape and color features of traffic sign are used to extract it. The proposed approach is applied to real-time images containing traffic signs and the detection accuracy rate is 93.33%.
