Speed Control of a Brushless DC Motor using Neural Network based MRAC
This paper presents the design and performance analysis of Artificial Neural Network based model reference
adaptive controller for the speed control of a Brushless DC motor. The model reference adaptive system is a competent
controller, which emulates the reference model behavior efficiently. The paper proposes and implements an MRAC with
Artificial Neural Network (ANN) to solve the problems of non-linearity and parameter variations caused by load excursions
and varying ambient temperature. The performance of the MRAC based controller for BLDC motor drive system is
compared satisfactorily with a PID controller using MATLAB/ SIMULINK.
