Paper Title
Overview Of SMES Technology For Stability Improvement Of Renewable Energy Systems

Abstract
Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage (SMES) systems are one of the superconducting technologies with wide variety of applications in power systems. The flexibility of these systems permits autilization not only as Energy Storage Systems (ESS) but also as power devices, for power quality applications. In a SMES system, the power conditioning system (PCS) is the crucial component for controlling the power flow between the superconducting coil and the ac system. The dynamics of the PCS directly influences the validity of the SMES in the dynamic control of the power system. This paper describes how this system is able to improve the dynamic stability of different renewable energy sources with reliable grid interconnection of SMES technology.
