Human Following Intelligent Cart With IOT Based Billing System

Abstract
Traditional shopping carts in retail stores rely heavily on human involvement and manual processes, which might seek inefficiencies and human errors during checkout. This inefficiency could cause delays, frustrate customers, and slow down the entire shopping process. This paper proposes an innovative smart shopping cart that aims to automate several key works related to the shopping experience to increase efficiency and accuracy. The smart cart combines different advanced technologies, i.e., a Husky Lens for product recognition, RFID for seamless item tracking, and load cells for precise weight measurement of items. The automated checkout with real-time cost tracking feature of this system allows customers to see the current cost of their items at any time while shopping. Such a facility reduces uncertainty and time spent at the checkout. The cart also features an innovative budget limit alert system which informs customers when their total money spends is too close to a budget limit that they have set. This way the shopper can keep informed during shopping, and avoid any surprise expenses. Preliminary testing of the smart shopping cart performed well, showing a 92% accuracy in following a human shopper, 98% precision in RFID tag reading, and weight measurement within an incredible range of +/- 0.05 kg. These preliminary tests indicate that the system is reliable, efficient, and further provides a good amount of improvement.
