Paper Title
Power Loss Analysis of Cascade 7-Level Reduced Switch Symmetrical Inverter
Abstract
Inverters are power electronic devices that convert direct current to alternating current. These inverters are further
divided into two types they are conventional and multilevel inverters. Conventional inverters are two-level inverters i.e. they
produce only 2-levels at the output. These types of inverters are not preferred in high-power and also industrial applications.
For improved power quality, reduced total harmonic distortion(THD), and low switching losses multilevel inverters are
preferred. In this paper power loss analysis are performed on a cascaded 7-level inverter. When compared with the
conventional inverter the 7-level inverter works more efficiently. The modified circuit diagram is simulated on MATLAB/
Simulink. This circuit produces 7 output levels, which is more likely to be sinusoidal. The circuit is subjected to different
PWM techniques such as sinusoidal pulse widthmodulation(SPWM),APOD(Alternate phase opposition disposition),
and(POD) phase opposition and disposition.
