Application of Automation and Control Technologies in Power Systems.

Abstract
This paper reviews different technologies that have helped in making the power system smarter from the generating stations to distribution substations via transmission lines. It also looks at how automation and control have made it possible to integrate different power sources into a single smart grid.Smart grid technologies enable the monitoring and regulations of these different power sources without disturbing the entire grid operation. The result of this research shows that by adoption and deployment of certain technologies like SCADA, in the power sector will make the system smarter and create better utility than the orthodox power generation, distribution and transmission processes.
