Paper Title
Design And Implementation Of PSS For Small Signal Stability

Abstract
Power System Stabilizer (PSS) is viewed as an additional block of generator excitation control system to improve the overall power system dynamic performance.PSS provides sufficient damping torque for small frequency oscillations through the excitation system of the generator by using auxiliary stabilizing signals. This paper discusses the root locus approach to design the PSS. Significant damping of electromechanical oscillations is achieved when a properly designed PSS is applied with Single machine infinite bus system which is taken as test system and the simulation results are obtained for variation in electrical torque, rotor angle variation and rotor speed variation of the system with and without PSS.
